Adding Criteria Questions

Criteria Questions are to be added on a job per job basis. Clicking on the Edit button allows the users to add job related criteria questions.  Adding questions under the header of ‘Criteria Questions’ will classify these questions as Shortlisting Criteria questions and can be used by Organisation users to provide limited access for relevant managers.

There are a variety of question formats that can be utilised. To add a new criteria question, click on Add Question under the Criteria Questions heading.

Note:  Criteria questions can NOT be added to a job when it is live.

Every question type will require the following details:

Question Heading – This is a heading to summarise the question or place it in a group of questions, a heading could ‘Essential Criteria’ or ‘Driving Licence’.  This is an optional detail for every question.

Question – This is the actual question to be added.  This must be completed.

Mandatory Question – if selected, the applicant will be required to answer the question before they are able to submit their application.

Criteria Question Types

The following question types can be added:

Check Box – A check box question requires the applicant to select one or more responses to a question in a multiple-choice style format.

Date – A Date question requires the applicant to input a date response.

Date Range – A Date Range question requires applicants to enter a ‘from’ and ‘to’ date. A limit of days, months or years can be set.

Drop Down – A Drop Down question requires applicants to select an option from a drop down list.

Experience – An Experience question requires applicants to detail their relevant experience. The style of question requires applicants to enter dates that accumulate to a total number of months experience.

Radio Button – A Radio Button question requires the applicant to select one answer only from a list of possible responses pre-defined by the organisation user.

Text Area – A Text Area question requires applicants to enter a large amount of text. This type of question is to be utilised for questions that require substantial text responses.

Text Box – A Text Box question requires applicants to enter a small amount of text. This type of question is to be utilised for questions that require smaller text responses, normally 50 words or less.

NOTE:  It is important to distinguish the difference between a Text Area and a Text Box.  Text Areas should be used for long answers, e.g. Please demonstrate how you have shown leadership in a previous role.  Whereas a Text Box is a short answer e.g. What was your last job title?   If the wrong question type has been selected and applicants have submitted, you may have issues.  Please contact Hallmark Solutions if you require assistance.

Conditional Questions

With the drop down and radio button question types you can also set up conditional questions depending on how the applicant answers.  To create a conditional question, select the Nested Questions option next to your Answer Option.

This means another question will appear for an applicant if they select Yes for this question.  This question can then be added from the main job setup screen once this question has been saved.

Scroll to your drop down question and select the answer that is ticked as having nested questions.  A Conditional Question button will appear.  From here, select your question type and follow the usual steps.
